Description

Large sculpture by Eli Elijassiapik (1936-2015) of Inukjuak. This is dated to 1980.

Terrific, large scale soapstone carving depicting an Inuit hunter, holding a seal. Elijassiapik was known for these vignette moments of the semi-nomadic and family camp life, prior to the current community living.

Measures 8″x 6.5″x 10.5″ and weighs 22lbs. In overall excellent vintage condition with age related minor surface marks (scuff/scratches), no chips or repairs.
