Vintage Design
Maxim Velčovský’s original work in the style of pop art is covered with beer bottle caps from various brands. The “Tssst” swan (from the sound of opening a beer) is part of the Swans project, which was created as a tribute to director Věra Chytilová’s film The Inheritance. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the film, we approached three artists and designers to create artworks out of one of its iconic symbols: a full-sized carousel swan. The weight of the swan is 87,5 kg. About the artist: Maxim Velčovský (*1976) is one of the most prominent figures of contemporary Czech design. He teaches at UMPRUM, he founded the Qubus studio, and he is the creative director of Lasvit. He works mainly with glass and porcelain in his design work.
