Table clock with hand, Franz Hagenauer, Werkstatte Hagenauer Vienna, ca. 1970, brass nickel plated, marked Franz Hagenauer designs a unique style functional object with this table clock. The piece belongs to a series of popular flat executed representations, which the Werkstatte Hagenauer produced in the 1970s from nickel-plated brass. Rising from a base, there is a simplified depiction of a hand with spread fingers. As lovely details, four rows of circular ornaments are displayed on the wrist, suggesting the presence of pearl bracelet. Apart from the elongated fingernails, the hand is completely textureless and smooth. The prominently protruding clock case is adorned with a finely chiseled dial. On a second level, the viewer is met with the message of the aphorism: “It is in your hands.” The fan-like finger position and the careful grasp of the clock with the thumb and index finger reveal the preciousness of time. marked with “wHw” in the circle, “FRANZ”, “HAGENAUER/WIEN”, “MADE IN/AUSTRIA” copy of the original calculation on work slip for table clock with hand, mod. no. 1123
