Art deco table mirror, design Franz Hagenauer, Werkstatte Hagenauer Vienna, ca. 1960, brass nickel-plated, unique piece, marked Franz Hagenauer most probably designed this rare table mirror specifically for the American market. The stand is adorned with a stylized skyline, with skyscrapers on the left and right side, like a Manhattan street canyon, opening the view far upwards. The silhouette with its jagged and stepped elements can be interpreted as an hommage to New York’s Chrysler Building. Like no other skyscraper from the 1930s, this iconic building with its Art déco façade has become the epitome of modern American architecture.
